Overview

Smith Creek runs through the Summer Creek neighborhood developed in the 1990s. This is a well preserved creek as its two upper branches are protected by conservation areas. The creek continues through the neighborhood buffered by conservation and common areas. These conservation areas, overseen by Alachua County, preserve the natural vegetation and forested nature of the watershed and protect the creek. The creek passes under 39th Avenue and remains protected as it passes to the west of North Gainesville Baptist Church until its terminus into a wetland just north of NW 35th Avenue.
