Keeping Grass Off the Streets

Did you know that grass clippings are a source of pollution?

When grass clippings and landscape debris including leaves are blown into the road they end up in the stormwater collection system and then our creeks. When clippings decompose in water they can harm fish because the process depletes oxygen supplies. Recent studies also suggest that clippings can increase coliform levels in local waterways – these are two good reason to keep grass and other lawn wastes off of the streets and away from stormdrains and waterways!
