Return to Watershed

Wetlands are an important part of every watershed – they are the transitional area where the water table is at or near the surface of the land. They are home to wildlife and aquatic plants. With all of the water resources in our community, you can imagine how our wetlands are important to ecosystem health.

You can learn more about the wetlands in the Gainesville area by visiting the University of Florida’s Center for Wetlands website.
